History of SECONN.
Founded by Fred Gale and friends in 1963, SECONN Skin Divers is one of the oldest continually running scuba clubs in the United States. To put it in perspective, PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) wasn’t founded until 1966.

Diving

The 1st and 3rd Tuesday of June - August, SECONN members join together for a club dive at Stonington Point, DuBois Beach. We meet at 5:30pm and splash shortly after.

SECONN organizes charters in Gloucester, MA with Cape Ann Divers 2 and the Yankee Pearl. Check out our events page for more info.

In January, February and March, SECONN hosts pool sessions free for members at the UCONN Avery Point pool.

What better way to kick off the New Year than with a dive? Join us Jan 1st rain, snow or sun for a Quahog shell hunt, raffles, hot drinks, food and more.

New England Wreck Divers are some of the most hardened divers on the planet. Join us for an all day event at UCONN Avery Point with presentations from all of New England’s top explorers.

Every winter, SECONN hosts a Winter Banquet. We dress up, have cocktails and enjoy a guest speaker at a venue a almost too nice for our salty members. Past venues’s include the Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Seaport and Prime 82.
Meetings

SECONN hosts monthly club meetings with presentations at the Uncasville dinner. At each meeting we discuss club business and have a presenter from the area talk about the latest and greatest. Past presentations include Underwater mapping technologies, shellfish aquaculture, discovery and identification of shipwrecks and more.
